Offerings were meant to be given by free will. People chose to give to God because they understood what God had done for them. In the ancient times, God delivered Israel out of Egypt and the people were grateful for the miracles that God had done. Today we have been given eternal life, and words cannot describe our praise and worship to God for what He has done! The giving environment was charged in ancient times, but today, it is even more charged as we begin to understand that God has made a way for us to live forever. Eternal life does not begin when we die, it begins now! As soon as we were born again, our eternal life was born. This is why the Bible says that we must be “born again” (JOHN 3). When we are physically born, we are not born again, but when we begin to make decisions about right and wrong and who God is, then we have the choice to be born again.
