"The Bible tells us that the 144,000 are from the twelve tribes of Israel (with the exception of Dan, and including the tribe of Levi (REV. 7 : 4 - 8 )) who are dedicated to following “the Lamb wherever He goes” (REV. 1 4 : 4 ) . From this, we can infer that the 144,000 are true Israelites: after the tribes of Israel are named, the Bible contrasts this with an immeasurable multitude of Gentiles from all nations, tribes, and tongues (REV. 7 : 9 ). Who are these Israelites who have been redeemed from the earth? (REV. 1 4 : 3 ) I believe they are Messianic Jews, God’s evangelists who are tasked to bring His message in the time of Jacob’s trouble. They are dedicated to spreading the gospel around the world at this time when so many are rebelling against God. We also learn that these 144,000 are standing on Mount Zion with the Lamb of God and have His name written on their foreheads. This is very interesting because this is a time when people will define who they serve and worship by a mark on their foreheads or on their hands.
