"Life as we know it is precious, and God has a lot to say about it. It’s interesting to me that we instinctively cling to life, trying to keep it at all costs. We know that life is good, even though it is hard. Of course, we also believe that life doesn’t end when our bodies end here on earth. There is a reality beyond us, a better more vibrant life is available than the one we know now. King Hezekiah’s love for life is revealed in our reading today. He was a good man who had lived his life trying to do what was right. He spent a lot of blood, sweat, and tears trying to serve God faithfully. So, when he was told that his sickness would take his life, he brought
his request for more life to God. God knew that Hezekiah would respond in such a way, He granted that Hezekiah’s life would be extended for a time. In doing this, God has reminded us of an important truth: God is in control of when we die. He can stop our death or not. We may not always understand His choices, but we can choose to trust them, no matter what we face.

Defeated; 1 Chronicles 10-13
"As it is today, there were many religions in the time of Saul the first King of Israel. One of those religions was the worship of Dagon by the Philistines. Though this god shows up in our reading today, this is not the first time he has shown up in Scripture. Remember how the judge Samson tore d...

The Praise of God; 1 Chronicles 14-17
"Praise has always been a big part of worshipping God. We see it all throughout the Scriptures, from the Old to the New Testaments. Someone once said to me something along the lines of, “Your God sure must have a big ego to actually require worship from people.” But what is praise? If you look it...
