Most people believe that Jesus was a man who lived on the earth two-thousand years ago. They believe that He was crucified by the Romans after being convicted by the Jews, but many do not believe that Jesus Christ was fully God. Today, many priestly leaders do not believe that Jesus rose from the grave in the flesh. This is a significant point of difference between believing Jesus Christ was just a man or believing that Jesus Christ was the Son of God—fully man and
fully God. John 17 illustrates that point well as we hear Jesus praying for Himself, committing Himself and His finished work to His Father, and also praying for His disciples. The crucifixion killed Jesus Christ. He was dead. There is no way to work around that fact. But, as Christians, we believe and know that Christ rose from death to life, giving us the power of eternal life. This is the fundamental difference between being a Christian or not.
