Our Western world tends to focus mainly on money as the best way to find fulfillment in our lives—as if money is the ultimate reason for living. Everything we do is measured by the money we have or can get. Arguments over taxes, conflict in prices over goods, and the way in which we gain or save our money tend to define our status as people. But how does the Bible, the Word of God, define our meaning in life, our ultimate reason for living? The Bible speaks of loving the LORD our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength (DEUTERONOMY 6:5, MARK 1 2 : 2 9 - 3 1 ). The Bible explains that the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil (1 TIMOTHY 6:10). There is a good reason for giving to the needs of the Church, the body of Christ. We belong to Christ, who is the head of the body, not the other way around. Therefore, everything we own belongs to Christ. There are too many who have corrupted the call towards giving to God, but what do the Scriptures tell us?
