Saul’s son Ishbosheth was made king of Israel by Abner, but he only lasted for two years. And, as we will read in 2 Samuel 2, the civil war of Israel had just begun. David’s men will clash with Abner’s men, battles will be won and lost, and David will inevitably become stronger and stronger.
