The Proverbs promise its readers that if we pay attention to the wisdom of God, then we will learn the ways of the LORD. Sometimes that seems complicated and even contradictory. For example, Proverbs 26 says, “Do not answer a fool according to his folly, lest you also be like him. Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own eyes” (PROVERBS 26:4-5). Are we to answer a fool or not? That question is asked based on a misunderstanding of what the proverb is saying. God wants us to consider the way in which we engage a person, not whether we do or don’t. We are supposed to evangelize to everyone, are we not? When we read the Proverbs, then, we are not reading like we would a novel or newspaper. It is wisdom literature, meant to be meditated upon before we act. So, we must read Proverbs carefully and thoughtfully in order to understand
what the LORD is telling us. The best way to come to the Bible is to recognize we are reading the very words of our good and holy God. What does the LORD want us to know and understand?

The Wise in Heart; Ecclesiates 7-9
It is one thing to say wise things, it is another thing to live in wisdom. Ecclesiastes speaks to the person who desires to live wisely. God's Will; Ecclesiates 10-12
