Justice, Righteousness; Micah 5-7

When we find ourselves in a tough spot, it is tempting to try to make deals with God. We need to be very careful though, because there is a very real spiritual world that is all around us. There is God’s Kingdom and satan’s kingdom. God’s Kingdom is one of truth, while satan’s masks itself as a kingdom of light, it lies, it tricks, and it deceives. This calls for care on our part. That is one of the reasons I am so thankful for the Scriptures, they bring so much clarity to our lives that otherwise wouldn’t be there. Take for an example Micah 6:8, “He has shown you, O man, what is good; and what does the Lord require of you but to do justly, to love mercy, and to walk humbly with your God?” As Christians, we are called to walk justly. Walking in God’s justice means to treat others well, regardless of status or money or anything else. That particular issue is what God’s people were insulting God with in Micah’s time, and no doubt they were able to justify their behavior to themselves.
