It was the wilderness, a desolate wasteland. No one was around except the people of Israel. This is how God chose to anoint the Tabernacle. Moses and the people had built and designed it according to everything the LORD had instructed them. Keep this in mind, Israel was in the wilderness, they were defining themselves as a nation outside of Egypt. They had been preoccupied with surviving, and the LORD had given them everything to survive. Now Israel was commanded to build and set up a Tabernacle for God. Remember the way God had provided for them with water and food was a true miracle. It was amazing! Aaron and his sons, the priests, were also required to be dedicated and anointed for service to the LORD. Exodus
40 gives the directions and instructions of how they erected and arranged the Tabernacle of the LORD in the wilderness.
