The last great king of Judah was Josiah. He was a unique man who dedicated himself to God at a very young age. He became the nineteenth king of Judah when he was just eight years old. His kingship followed the evil reigns of his grandfather Manasseh and father Amon who had done awful things in pursuing false gods, even sacrificing their children to them. Josiah was different, he was so convinced of God’s reality that he began a restoration project of the Temple. The Temple had previously been renovated to worship pagan gods. Josiah’s restoration work led to the rediscovery of the Book of the Law of God. As the king heard the words he was deeply hurt because the people of Judah had been so far off base in their dealings with God. King Josiah sent messengers to a prophetess of God to discover what to do.
