When I was young, I remember thinking, “I need to be cool and appear to be perfect in front of my friends, then they will make me their leader!” Leading was the goal. How to lead was the real challenge. However, there was a time when I came to the realization that my soul was dark and the evil that was controlling me had a deep root to nowhere. That is when I prayed and became a follower of Christ. When I did that, I realized that I didn’t need to come up with a plan for me, I would be what God had chosen and designed me to be; I needed to seek Him and discover His plans for my life. This is a remarkable truth we gain from knowing and following God. I remember my counsellor at school telling me I had to decide what I was going to do with my life. It was good to get me thinking, but my decision was ultimately guarded and cared for by God. When we realize that we are born of God, He helps us with all of our decisions if we let Him.
