There is no such thing as wisdom without God. Why is that? There are clearly very intelligent people out there, much more intelligent than I am. So why is wisdom reserved for the Godly, and foolishness is for those who ignore God’s way? For one, intelligence, shrewdness and rationality alone do not amount to wisdom. You can be book smart but totally lack discernment of the heart. But intelligence does not make you unwise, it’s specifically if you ignore or reject God’s ways. Why? Well, true wisdom is a form of moral intelligence, it involves a sense of justice, mercy, faithfulness and love, a strong discernment between good and evil. Without wisdom, Godly wisdom, what’s the point in reason if not for self-gain? It becomes selfish. Intelligence and wisdom are incomplete without God because only God can make wisdom good. And if your wisdom is only half good, then it’s foolishness. You don’t need to be a logician to be wise, but you need goodness to be wise, and that goodness can only come from God.
