Only one thing is worse than God’s judgment on the world: God’s judgment on those who know Him and so, should know better. We must love the LORD and His ways. In Jeremiah 5, we learn about the corruption and immorality of God’s people in Jerusalem. They loved God for what He was, not who He was. They knew the stories about God, but not God Himself. They refused instruction from God and His prophets, and accepted rules from the priests. They had developed a kind of “culture of godliness” that mixed in whatever religious applications they wanted. To those who were faithful to God, He promised to leave a remnant even as His judgment fell. Today, we must know that God is real, and that we can hear from Him through His Word. When we ask the LORD into our lives to rule and reign our attitude changes toward sin; we want to live for God, His way! And we become an enemy of satan’s kingdom.
