Mankind always follows the gods he chooses, resulting in leadership that either succeeds or fails. Ancient Babylon was broken into pieces and destroyed because of the gods she chose. Jeremiah 51 records this utter destruction of Babylon, this nation who set herself in direct and willful rebellion against the God of Israel, the One and only True God of the entire world. Still today, this willful rebellion against God exists – a belief that we are gods. This is a crisis of faith in all its forms and seems to be on the rise in these last days. Rightness with God can be found through His Messiah, Jesus Christ. God does not want any to perish and so those of us who choose to follow the LORD Jesus and obey His Word are not finished, our work of spreading the gospel and growing disciples continues until He chooses to return. However, the plan of God also includes God’s decision to destroy Babylon, those who are set against Him.
