The Gospel of Mark is probably the first Gospel ever written. Scholars believe it was written around AD 64-68. The memories of Peter were written by John Mark. He was an important assistant for Peter and Paul. According to tradition, Peter was put to death in Rome under Emperor Nero. It seems that he told the stories from memory not soon before he was killed. This makes the Gospel of Mark a remarkable book for those who are suffering persecution. The accounts written there are quick and to the point. The published book had to get out to those who were committing their lives to Jesus Christ. Written to the Jews and Gentiles, this book is a great thematic story of a brief image of Jesus Christ. When we read Mark,
let’s remember that the memories of Peter were well established by the Holy Spirit.
