"Woe to you who plunder, though you have not been plundered‚ ( I SAIAH 33:1). This is how the prayer begins, as Isaiah breaths out the image given to him from God's Holy Spirit. Prayers are very important when we see, read and hear prophecy. In today's reading assignment we begin with a comparison. Isaiah speaks to the distress of those who
plundered though they had not been plundered. When people make free will decisions to do things to others that they have not had happen to them, this is a chief mark of ignorance and arrogance. This prayer in Isaiah 33, given in deep distress, tells us that we can call on God to help us in all our difficult times. We must, however, always remember
that there is a city in Heaven which is called the New Jerusalem that will descend from God to humanity in the end. God will make everything right and well.
