"What is the difference between obeying orders and taking advice? Many associate the book of the Proverbs with taking God’s advice. Others see the commands of God in the Proverbs and hear God giving us orders to live by. The truth is that God’s advice is never wrong, neither are His orders. How we see God is how we see the Word of God. If we grew
up with a heavy-handed father, commanding and barking orders, then our understanding of family or our heavenly Father might be commanding. If we grew up with weak father or no father at all, we may take God as giving us advice that we do not need to listen to. But remember this, why should we judge God based on our human experience? God is not
like us. He is a perfect Father and always has patience with us but is strong to discipline when He needs to be. When God speaks, He is never wrong. Proverbs 5 speaks about the sexuality of man and the dangers of adultery. We should listen carefully.
