Do Not Leave Us, LORD; Jeremiah 14-16

"A return to God means a change in how you live your life. God calls us out of sin and destruction and into His glorious victory. This will look a little bit different for each person’s life. It may mean new friends, new places, and certainly new patterns in our lifestyles that may feel strange and awkward to us at first. This kind of discomfort is much better than the awful things that happen when we don’t live for God. Jeremiah 14 describes the circumstances Judah was facing for breaking their covenant with God. They were going through the physically dire circumstances of a drought. For Judah, who had a physical covenant with God involving their land, devastation began to take root as a direct result of their repeated sin. Jeremiah calls out for God to not forsake the people ( J E R E M I A H 1 4 : 9 ) , and we see God’s response. The people must live for Him in truth and action, rather than in name alone. Likewise, we cannot just call ourselves Christians. We must follow God in name and in real action.
