"The book of Exodus does more than establish the origin story of the nation of Israel. It reveals to us more of God’s character and more of God’s plan of redemption, or salvation, for the world. As God deals with Israel and Moses, we get to see God’s great mercy and God’s great holiness. All throughout Exodus, we see God’s holiness being emphasized; His presence made the ground holy, the mountain holy, the people were to be holy because God is holy. We see quite clearly that anything or anyone that is unholy cannot coexist with God. For us today, we have Jesus as the answer to this law of holiness, His righteousness is applied to us. His sacrifice takes away our sin, our unholiness, so that we can be reconciled to God. For our sakes, Jesus Christ came through the holy people of Israel, He was
sacrificed for human sin and rose from the dead, overcoming sin’s power. As we dedicate our lives to God, He makes us like Himself, holy.
