Head of the House; 1 Chronicles 6-9
Season 4, Episode 7

Our concept of authority can be very messed up, thanks to sin. However, let us be clear in our Christian belief that Jesus Christ is the head of our households. There is no person, male or female, who has the ability to successfully be the head of the household. We must yield ultimate authority to God. When I officiate at a marriage, I remind the couple that there needs to be a third person in their marriage, God. When there is a conflict that we cannot work out, we must come to Christ. He can bring us both to a good and healthy place where conflict can be resolved. It is interesting, as a married man, to note that as husband and wife our roles are
different within marriage, but when Christ is our head things just work. He is our unity, our strength, our confidant, and counsellor. When God spoke to the family of Israel, He spoke to all of them, male and female. With God intimately involved, Israel would have experienced a much different history, but instead Israel also involved pagan worship, pagan gods, and largely rejected the covenant they had with God. Let us not do the same.

The Hands of God; 1 Chronicles 18-21
We will inevitably make mistakes. Will we admit to those mistakes? Or will we try to justify them? There are so many ways that we instinctually justify ourselves. We can deceive ourselves so easily. This is one of the reasons that we need to be friends with other Christians; real friends, who tal...
