Marriage is amazing and difficult, but what exactly is it? Is marriage a manmade idea? Or is it something sacred? Does a marriage’s failure prove that it’s manmade, or is it a comment on human nature? The Bible speaks much about marriage. It claims that in the beginning, God created man and woman—male and female—the two came from one, and were meant to be in partnership together. Together, the man and woman bore the image of God in a way that they did not apart from one another. Each individual bears the image of God, and each couple should bear the image of God. This is where the covenant of marriage came from, it is a sacred
covenant between one man and one woman and God. The failure of marriage is never the will of God, even though so many have fallen and will continue to fail. In Mark 10, we read about the religious men of Jesus’ day questioning and testing Him about ancient divorce.
