Moses was an amazing man. He was brought up in the secrecy of Pharaoh’s kingship under the care of Pharaoh’s daughter. He was raised with the best education the world had to offer, yet he let it all pass away. His temper led to the murder of an Egyptian, who was brutally taking advantage of a Hebrew slave. Running away was the only option after his bloody hands were exposed. For 40 years he lived among the Midianites, and he even married a Midianite priest’s daughter. It was here, as a shepherd, when Moses saw a fire unique to God, it burned but did not destroy. This flame captured his curiosity and sparked a multitude of journeys for Moses. It led him to discover the God of his ancestors, to lead his people out of slavery into freedom, and to write the first five books of the Bible (or Torah in Hebrew, Pentateuch in Greek). Now, at 120 years of age, at the end of those journeys, he hands leadership down to Joshua and gives his final blessing to Israel before passing away in the wilderness.
