There are so many ways that we do not pay attention to ourselves in today’s busy world. Don’t get me wrong, I recognize that today’s world is all about us, but it is about us in all the wrong ways. Our music teaches us to prioritize our wants and desires above all else, the products we buy appeal to our egos, they help us to build a façade of greatness and so-called self-esteem. How often are we encouraged to see beyond ourselves to the needs of others? Sometimes we are encouraged to help those who “really need it”, but through the Scriptures God reminds us of a deeper truth. Our life is not about us, it is about Jesus Christ who saved us. Jesus who died for all. Our lifestyles, our priorities, and who we help tells people around us whom we truly serve. As Christians, we must keep ourselves in check with the Holy Spirit. I remember going to youth seminars where we talked about this idea and brainstormed ways to practice following Christ in our lives to become effective witnesses. Though we get busier as adults, let’s not let this practice of devotion stop.

Grow Up!; 1 Corinthians 1-3
When I was growing up a common response to something you didn’t like was, “Grow up!” Obviously, the idea was that whatever the person had said or was doing was something a baby would do. Apparently, when the early Church was being founded, a common response to people whose behavior you didn’t lik...

The Church is Different; 1 Corinthian...
