The truth is not something that always pleases our emotions. In fact, the truth often offends us. A good example is the truth that we are all sinful. We are all affected by sin, no matter how good or holy we think we are. Without Christ, we’re enslaved to it (JOHN 8:34-36, ROMANS 3:23). As Christians we recognize that Jesus Christ has won the war against sin, He has set us free from being its slaves. But until He calls us home to be with Him, we will battle with it (ROMANS 7:22-25). When we focus our attention and our lives on fighting sin, the Holy Spirit helps us. Jehoshaphat is one of the kings of Israel’s southern kingdom of Judah who tried to be faithful to God, but he
was focused on resolving the conflict between Israel and Judah. Ahab the king of Israel took advantage of this by asking Jehoshaphat to help him gain back Ramoth Gilead from Syria. Jehoshaphat’s alliance with northern Israel would ultimately have negative consequences on the kingdom of Judah.

The Prophet and the King; 2 Kings 5-8
The prophet Elisha led a fascinating life in Israel. As we read, I can’t help but think that God was trying to shock Israel into returning to Him. They were a nation who really turned to their own desires, they had become so wayward in their worshipping of other gods. Israel had failed God. That’...
