The Commands; Matthew 4-6
Season 9, Episode 15

In the same way that the Ten Commandments were a center of God’s law of righteousness and justice, Matthew chapter five tells us about the further advancement of God’s law written into our hearts. The association with Moses is clear. Just as Moses ascended Mount Sinai to receive the Ten Commandments, so Jesus climbed a mountain to sit and teach the people from there. Today,
we call this Jesus’ Sermon on the Mount. While God had Moses write and deliver commandments, Jesus Christ clarifies these Laws of God by challenging our hearts and our attitudes. We cannot do anything that is pleasing to God, unless we are in total submission to the LORD. These teachings of Christ in Matthew are called the Beatitudes, or as I like to say, the “Be-Attitudes” that focus on our disposition. They convey to us what Godly attitudes are. From our reading today,
Matthew 4 covers the temptation of Jesus Christ, and chapter 6 is an extension of Jesus’ teaching in chapter 5. May we hear and receive His message in our hearts today.

Children; Matthew 16-18

When the disciples asked Jesus who the greatest was in the Kingdom of Heaven, for example, Jesus had a child come and stand in the middle of them all. Jesus knew where the question was coming from. The disciples see...

The Prophecy; Matthew 19-21
