The dream Joseph had in his youth so many years ago had finally come to fruition. But the dream did not play out at all like Joseph initially thought. In his youth he was arrogant, but God humbled him in order to establish him as the leader he was called to be. I'm sure this was an overwhelming and mind-blowing experience, since the interpretation of his own dream was so different than what actually happened. How amazing that God used him to interpret the Pharaoh's dream! God truly works in mysterious ways. Even so, Joseph lived two completely different lives: one as a slave
and another as the highest official in the kingdom. This is a parallel to our calling as followers of Christ. Even though there are difficulties and persecutions and injustices that happen to us, just like what happened to Christ, we will ultimately be princes in God's heavenly Kingdom to come. What a beautiful image of our hope! The story of Joseph is one of the greatest stories in the Bible because it is so relevant to us now.
