As the last kings of Jerusalem are highlighted in 2 Kings 24, it becomes even clearer that the Bible is not propaganda for the people of Israel. We will see evil being practiced and spread by those that are supposed to be God’s people. We will see God prompting the enemies of Israel into action. It was a brutal and devastating time. Yet, God was still faithful to Israel, and importantly, to His plan of redemption for humanity. He was still crafting a path forward for the arrival of Jesus Christ. The last two kings of Judah did not have long reigns, Jehoiachin only reigned for three months, and then Zedekiah lasted eleven years before Babylon razed Jerusalem. Nebuchadnezzar seemed unstoppable, but God had more plans, and it would be from Nebuchadnezzar’s kingdom that the prophets Ezekiel and Daniel would speak.
