"The territory of ancient Israel is outlined in our reading today. And though it has been noted
many times, it is still worth saying that it is amazing how much strife has occurred over such a small piece of land. God promised this land to the descendants of Abraham back around 2100 BC, and it was taken over by his descendants around 1400 BC. Its borders ebbed and flowed over its lifetime, and there were many wars and a few exiles, but the intention of God’s land grant to Israel is outlined in Numbers 34. It can be really difficult for us to see these concepts written in black and white in a book so respected as the Bible. Our modern history challenges us and our popular culture pushes against the authority of God and the authority of the Bible. Regardless of your stance on modern Israel today, it is so important to take note of its history bwith God, which began so beyond our time. If we have any hope of properly understanding our present, it is in understanding the past that God has preserved for us on the pages of the Bible.
We are a family-run international ministry with television, print and online programs designed to guide you through the Bible in one year.

The Captured; Deuteronomy 1-3
"In today’s reading, we see some brutal history that displays how much God had blessed Israel before they even entered the Promised Land. The people around Israel were threatened by and hostile to Israel’s presence. Seizing the opportunity to defeat this landless group, the people of Bashan set t...

The Prophets; Deuteronomy 11-14
"The principle of Deuteronomy 13 is critically important. Just because someone can prophesy or do signs, wonders, or miracles, does not mean that we should follow everything they say. Signs and wonders, prophecies, and dreams are not necessarily verification of God’s backing. The person’s teachin...
