Orthodox Jews today are waiting for the rebuilding of the Temple. In fact, they’ve been waiting for nearly two thousand years, after it was destroyed in AD 70. Over centuries, they have handed down religious doctrines that claim Jesus Christ was not Messiah, that He was an imposter. This means that they need the Temple back and ordained with a red heifer as an offering of purification before the “real” Messiah can come for the first time.
In the end of time, the separation between other religions and Christianity will become more and more pronounced. Christians believe that Jesus Christ was the Holy Messiah, and that He will soon return for His people at His second coming. But in Numbers 19, we learn what the meaning of the purification offering was by using the red heifer – it was not a ritual necessary to build the Temple, it was a ritual necessary to be the Temple. That is, we who follow Jesus Christ as LORD.
