The fact that Bible was not written for the good publicity of ancient Israel is very apparent when you get to the book of Judges. If anyone were trying to write a book of propaganda, they would steer away from most of the stories contained in this Biblical book. No, the Bible isn’t attempting to gloss over human sin, in fact, it tends to highlight it for us. The Bible is instead committed to the mission of God to save mankind. The Saviour of the world would eventually come from this sorry state presented in the book of Judges. Jesus, the Christ, would come to earth, pay the cost of our sin, and make a way for us to be reconciled to God forever. To tell this truth, the Bible had to tell the truth about the failures of humanity along the way. And
so, we find ourselves here. After the partial success of the generation of Joshua, we begin the steady decline of Judges. In its pages, we are shown an Israel who once again needs rescuing, this time not from the Egyptians, but from the results of their broken covenant.

Their Own Solution; Judges 18-21
"The people living in the Promised Land created a major mess for themselves and made it worse when they attempted to fix it on their own. In fact, we see many examples in the book of Judges of them doing exactly what the words of God told them not to do. By the time we get to Judges 21, we’re at ...
