"The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes says that he was the son of David, king in Jerusalem. Those words have led many to believe that the writer must be Solomon. It seems likely to assume that it was Solomon, given the things that this author said and did. Ecclesiastes is a record of his research to search out the real reasons and meaning of life. He expresses his exploits throughout time to search for a reason to live through doubts, hopes, and fears. Solomon was a king gifted by God in wisdom (1 KINGS 3: ). But that does not mean that wisdom answered all of his questions. In fact, the most important question of all – why do we live? – is never answered by reason alone. But that question is answered through God’s Son, Jesus Christ. The first 11 verses begin our study today, while the last two verses conclude the whole question, “Fear God and keep His
commandments, for this is man’s all” (ECCLESIASTES 12:13).
