Yahweh is God; Joel 1-3
Season 9, Episode 2

In Hebrew, Joel’s name means “Yahweh is God”. What a great name! Within the book, there is no reference to the time that Joel is ministering in, but there are several hints that we may be able to draw some conclusions from. My thinking is that Joel was ministering to a post-exilic Judah, but regardless, Joel’s message is fascinating. We get to see within Joel’s pages how God responds
to His people and what we are responsible to do about it. In Joel 3, we read how God tells the nations who have acted against Him and His people that they must gather and ready themselves for their destruction. It is a challenging read, and somewhat offensive to people who don’t like the idea of war, fighting, or a real judgment of God. Sin will always bring us to a serious level of
destruction. The only answer to mankind’s evil and fighting is to come to Jesus Christ.

Worshipper of Yahweh; Obadiah
Obadiah’s Hebrew name means “worshipper of God.” This minor prophet is not minor because of what he says, but because of the volume of his writing. The book of Obadiah consists of twenty-one verses, focusing exclusively on the nation of Edom. Remember that the Edomites were the descendants of Esa...
