How should we communicate God’s life-giving power? Zophar chose to tell Job that it was time for him to repent; that the troubles he was having was due to his own problems and inadequacy when measured against the holiness of God. These friends of Job are great examples for us. When we discover that someone is going through terrible suffering, what will we do? Zophar’s tactic pushed Job into a discussion about life and death. Job seems to assume that man is finished when he dies, but Christ tells us something different. Jesus promises that those who follow Him will live with Him eternally. We have a higher purpose than what we can fulfill here on earth. Let’s follow Him in the here and now because that affects the way we will live the rest of our lives after death.
